A year ago, the consensus of FX analysts was expecting barely any change in the dollar against the majors, Scandi strength in G10, INR and CNY strength in Asia, and strong performances in RUB, BRL and TRY. As it turned out, 2021 saw significant dollar strength against the majors with the Euro falling 7.4% and the yen falling 10.4%. Consensus was correct on INR, CNY and RUB but missed the TRY collapse. A mixed scorecard for consensus at best.
