FX Positioning and Sentiment – Hedge Funds Return to GBP Longs

In our positioning report we separate actual positioning data from sentiment data.

Here’s the latest on IMM positioning (as of 18 January): 

• Hedge Funds: GBP joined DXY and RUB as the only longs (Chart 1). JPY, CHF, AUD, NZD, CAD, MXN, BRL, and ZAR shorts increased, with NZD at highest levels over the past year (Chart 3).
